Biography

Presently, Rabbi of Congregation Ahavas Yisroel of Pomona, NY. 20 years of experience of rabbinic leadership, as the rabbi of numerous congregations, mostly in the UK, but also in New York, Sydney, Berlin, and Brussels. Acted as a chaplain to a major British prison and taught a semicha program. For more than 20 years, acted as chazzan, baal koreh, baal tokea, and so on. 

Yossi holds a diploma in life coaching and earned a Masters Degree in the social sciences and a PhD in coaching psychology. He has published multiple scholarly articles and book chapters and lectured at conferences

Established a reputation as an expert in the area of relationships, especially helping singles struggling to form or secure a lasting relationship. Launched a major relationship advice website, www.datewell.org. Co-founded a European singles organization (www.jep.eu), which runs major weekends all over the region. He has written several books on the subject (including Relationship Coaching and Shidduch Success), as well as contributed to major publications in the field.

Yossi has authored and co-authored six books and many book chapters, academic and lay articles, as well as features in newspapers and websites.

Yossi founded and is Chief Executive of Tag International Development (www.tagdevelopment.org) , a charitable organisation that focuses on sharing Israeli expertise with developing countries. 

Tag International Development shares unique Israeli humanitarian expertise in developing countries and has designed and delivered more than 35 projects in 12 countries, such as Kenya, Rwanda, Sri Lanka and Myanmar, including agricultural innovation and pioneering approaches to maternal health. 

Founded and ran Tag Institute for Social Development, a social science research centre and think tank applying Judaic ideas to contemporary social challenges (www.taginstitute.org). 

Yossi has studied the social sciences at advanced academic level, and has experience as both a scholar and change-maker on various social issues.

Tag Institute has commissioned and overseen 15 research projects (with scholars based at major universities) and has carried out 6 substantial action research projects, including such areas as bullying, ageing enrichment and general anxiety disorder.
